Void Vultures RPG

Void Vultures is an RPG developed by Josh Roby and Ryan Macklin. I was assigned some interior artwork for it. Check them out below. Click here for a description and a video for Void Vultures. It was quite a fun project for me to do.

Defiance Cover Art

Yikes! Accidentally deleted my entire blog - I was just trying to delete one image! Crap!!

Ah well, I'll add just a couple of pics back plus my latest update. Major change is the poster on the back wall, and I've coloured in the middle rear wall.

Thanks to everyone for all previous [now deleted] comments & feedback!

Oct 5th - finally, the final!

Spider-Man: Webhead 2.0 Redesign Contest

Here's a sneak preview of my entry for Project Rooftop's "Spider-Man: Webhead 2.0 Redesign Contest". It's not the final artwork yet, merely a quick sketch I made on a notepad in my free time.

If you guys have the time to spare, check it out here and let's show 'em what SWAG artists can do!

New Stuffs (bissel NUDITY warning)

Thought it was time to post a "what I've been up to" kind of blog. Non-SWAG-related art and whatnot.

I've been drawing up some Adventure Time fan art, in the form of my own original characters!

I drew a vaguely surreal/nouveau piece for my mom on mother's day...

And the big project, which I am calling Mobius... hopefully this will wind up in a (self) publishable state after I do enough pages to tell the story.

Non-Star Wars Art / Commissions

Well, duderinos, I've been keeping pretty busy of late. We've got an ongoing D&D 3.5 game running, and I'm playing a Masters of the Universe-inspired Locathah cleric (MERMAN!!).

I recently introduced my little bro to the RPG phenom (McFly!), and we recently joined a D&D 4th Edition game at the local game shop, where we play two twin halfling rogues. Lotsa fun!

On the business side, I've been making the moneys with some art commissions for a small RPG publisher, drawing some superheroes, and working as a colorist on another superhero brawl piece.

Azamar RPG Deities

Recent Azamar RPG interior artwork commissioned by Wicked North Games have been the deities of Azamar. Not all of them are the same class of entities. Some are forces of nature, some are interdimensional beings, some are truly unknown -- but all of them are worshipped by certain groups in the world of Azamar.

You can read their write up on my blog: part one and part two.

Here they are in alphabetical order:

Non-Star Wars Ship

As usual, all the concept artwork credit goes to Jeff Carlisle whose art I am constantly consuming and repurposing for my own usage. It's hard to find concepts better than his, and I'm certainly not ready to go spitting out awesome concept ships.

Original can be found here: http://jeffcarlisle.com/node/108?size=_original

First image is the current GI Render, second is my polygons.

Squid thing

So, Jeff Carlisle has this squid thing that I did a bust of a few years ago. Never got around to finishing it and wanted to take a try at it with new techniques. Seems to be coming along ok.

The Hobbit

Everynight since my girls were born I've read "The Hobbit" to them. I've decided to illustrate some of the scenes for them, hoping it will make it more exciting. This is where Bilbo and the dwarves fight the spiders.
I'm still working on it, of course:)

Four Horsemen: WIP

Hey guys, been working on my portfolio now that I am out of school and seeking employment. Been trying out some CGhub challenges recently, right now I am working on the four horsemen and wanted to post it up here since I have been working digitally mostly these days for lack of watercolor space (I am making a huge piece in traditional media and it is hard to do anything else atm).

Feeling Villainous

Hey all....so, been a bit busy now and again with stuff.

Recently I lost internet connection...and found out that apparently I had a contract that was past due for artwork. It was odd, since I never got an email about it. I was contracted for work on three books for Cryptic Studios, creating character profiles based off existing designs for a kind of encyclopedia. I think....

Hisham's Other RPG Artwork

I've been playing other role-playing games this past months. It's been awesome. I've drawn my characters in those games in my blog and I thought I'd share it with you guys:

The first is from Eclipse Phase from Posthuman Studios, and I play Hokusai Tarnungshaut the uplifted octomorph currently a hired gun with the hypercorp named Fastball Express.

Baby it's cold outside

Hope everyone's having a great holiday!

It's been snowing a lot out here in Chicago and is too cold to go outside but it looks pretty even if it means a whole afternoon of shoveling.

Things I Do When I'm Not Mooking Around In Star Wars =}

Hehe, Star Wars isn't the only thing I dabble in.

In light of the comments about how my Young Reon Vo has a Disney vibe to it, I figured I'd post another Disney-ish piece for your enjoyment.....or bereavement. You decide.
I had to do this editorial illustration for class, and decided to use an actual existing article rather than make one up. It was in TIME magazine's August Issue, in case any of you care.

Concepts - Aliens of the Book

This is mostly for Drig... concepts for aliens from a book we were writing back in high school. Every so often we dredge it up again and try to do some work on it.

Edit: A muskmelon, a virago and a dovan.

Added a concept of the pho - an alien that communicates via radio waves - and new virago in captain's clothes.

Colored Muskmelon!

Digimania!

So it's been a couple of days now and I am still very new to photoshop and tablets.....I made this piece using a sketch in my sketchbook. I scanned it in to photoshop to try to learn the tools a little bit.

I am a little surprised how fast I can render on the computer, but I miss my watercolors and inks. So I enjoy both, but Traditional is still my fave.

Anyways, since most of you guys do the digital thing any crits good or bad will be appreciated. This is just a color comp...so....be easy.

A New Project

Edit: I've redrawn the mining tower. I drew up a bird-like riding animal, and after I realized how much it reminded me of the Roadrunner, I had to draw a desert background. The next two pictures are a riding/pack animal in two versions. Also, the camel-dino picture now has some color.

I've been thinking about doing some kind of illustration project for a while now, and it's gaining some momentum. I've decided to do a story about a planet I invented for a SW RPG campaign - Moridia - but I'm taking it out of the realm of Star Wars. I've got a few sketches so far.

X-Men request

A request from Xanamiar;

"Ben McCloud - 50 some years old. Ben and Shayla met back up again, and ended up falling in love, after Shayla got her memory back and apologized for her actions. Ben is wearing the kind of X-men outfit that we see in the movies. However, his outfit would need to reflect his ice abilities.. so either a light blue, with a frost going up it, or something else that would befit him. X-men logo belt to match the outfit. Brown hair, brown eyes.

Samurai

So I've decided that if I am going to be going to GenCon this year I better have a finished portfolio ready to show off unlike last time. :) This first piece that I am currently working to complete is a non-SW piece, but I wanted to show off this WIP anyway to keep you all up on how I am working my style.

For those of you that don't know, I have been struggling for several years trying to develop a digital painting style and move on from pencil artwork in my sketch book. Finally I feel like I am making some serious headway. Now I just need to steam-line my process so I can work faster.
